Egypt: Day 4 (Cruise Embarkation and Afternoon in Nubian Village)

[continued from here]

Finally, everyone was accounted for and bags loaded, we were shuttled by boat to the cruise ship - one of those smaller river cruise ships. I did not realize there was a lot of these ships plying the Nile.

MS Sara was our ship. While logistics were being arranged, they had us wait at the lounge and given refreshments. Soon after, our cabins were ready and we were able to rest a bit. Lunch followed and the rest of the afternoon was ours to do as we pleased. During lunch, the husband was talking out loud about wanting to go back to the Nubian village since the alternative is to stay on the boat. Three people wanted to join us, so we all went. This time around we would have more time.

Except that the boat driver thought the main route was too busy and decided to take the "back roads" of the Nile. There were few boats this way, but then we got stuck in the shallow water and sand. The good thing about this route is that it was more like a nature trip where we saw birds on the water and on the trees. Very quiet part of the river too.

Soon as we reached the village, we parted ways with our companions. They were there to see and shop and we were there to shop and photograph. The village was not as busy in the early part of the afternoon - must be the heat, so we were able to snag some deals.

When we got back on the boat, the rest of the tour mates that went on the Optional Tour were already there.

I love this fabric. I honestly did not see the person when I photographed this only learned of the presence once I saw the photo on my computer.
