Sky Watch #26

For a second week in a row, I am posting Sky Watch image a day early. Tomorrow is a busy day with family coming over for a day of eating and talking. I will be visiting other sky watch entries by Friday.

Thank you all for the visits and the comments this 2008. On my part I can honestly say that I have enjoyed all my bloghopping this year. See you all next year.

Sky Watch is a meme I joined middle of 2008 and hope to continue playing in the coming year. If you want to join us or you want to see some great skyscapes, click here.

Not Cold At All?

Just to show you how unprepared we are for winter in late May in this part of Oregon.

Crater Lake

It was a Memorial Day road trip that was unforgettable for the most part because I felt like I stepped into Narnia (that was a line from my journal of that trip). I remember leaving California early, the sun came out before we got to the Oregon border which was some 3 hours later. The sun was shining brightly in Oregon until we hit traffic near the entrance of Crater Lake. On both sides of the road, the trees were all covered with snow, the ground was filled with it some 2 feet I surmised. When it was our turn to pay the entrance fee (10 dollars, up to now I consider the best bang for my buck), the gatekeeper warned us that visibility was very minimal. We wont be able to see the anything she said and if we wanted to get in anyway. Hell yeah, we both said. And my adventure to Narnia began.

Simply put this was one of the best sights I've seen and maybe I romanticed snow and wintry landscape having been raised in a tropical setting, but I cannot forget the beauty of Crater Lake in all these white. I may not be able to visit Crater Lake again, although I plan to see it in summertime, but this one experience would last me a lifetime of memories.

Changi T3 airport is not only huge, it's squeaky clean too. I can eat off its floors.

Sky Watch #25

Nope, I did not have way too much egg nog and nope I did not touch the rum ball. I know it's not Sky Watch day yet, but tomorrow when we do Sky Watch it would be Christmas and I would not be in cyberspace. So, I am doing this a day early.

Happy Holidays to you and yours and may peace reign this season and all through the coming year.

Sky Watch page is here. Go check them out.

All Together Now In One Frame

The men were trying to find a mountain goat. The tour includes spotting a mountain goat, which we did, but not on this stretch of highway.

I was amused at how quickly these men grabbed their binoculars, crossed the street, and start looking. Lucky me they were fine subjects.

Photo Hunt #20: Wide

Ahsan-Manzil, originally uploaded by airam94564.

This theme had me stumped. I was going to stretch the theme to suit what picture I had in my post for today. Eventually, I settled on reposting the Ahsan-Manzil with its wide staircase.

Happy hunting and enjoy the weekend every one.

Sky Watch #24

hwy 395_Page000, originally uploaded by airam94564.

A collage of blue skies, puffy clouds, snow peaked mountains, and empty roadway. That means I was on a road trip. Taken somewhere between Mammoth Lakes and Mono Lake.

I was going to run some left overs from the various series that I ran this year, but since I have these photos up at Flickr, I thought I'd share them. I will still run a series on this later on. I think I may have enough material to cover a week's run.

This was taken Memorial Day weekend this year on a road trip to Highway 395 from Carson City Nevada to Mammoth Lakes CA and Yosemite.

Here's a shot taken on a moving vehicle as we enjoy the sights of Highway 395.

Dhaka Ruins

IMG_0436, originally uploaded by airam94564.

Here's another image that did not make it to my Bangladesh series that ran earlier this year.

I searched flickr and other sites for shots of these ruins by other photogs; however, I could not find any, so far. That must be because these ruins are mausoleums inside a Christian Cemetery and I don't think the many people go there or know they're there.

When I went ga-ga over these ruins, my in-laws nonchalantly mentioned they are centuries old and nobody seemed to really think they are awesome. I have seen one dating back as far as 1700. These are mausoleums by English invaders if that is the correct word.

They amazingly have stood the test of time and elements.

Photo Hunt #19: Favorite

IMG_0051, originally uploaded by airam94564.

These are a few of my favorite things, or why I chose this photo for this week's theme:

1. Trees are among my favorite subjects.
2. My husband is included in the shot.
3. And this one was shot in Yosemite, one of my favorite places to go.

Happy weekend and happy photo hunting.

Sky Watch #23

IMG_0004, originally uploaded by airam94564.

For this week's meme, I am again pulling one out of my magic archives hat. This is taken earlier this year at Grizzly Island Wildlife Area in Suisun City, some 25 miles away. We have heard about the good fishing that can be had there and the variety of wildlife to be seen. We saw some birds, walked some trail including this one that led to a wooden bridge where one can view the wide open spaces. I did not see anything really "wild" but we plan to go back again since it's close enough.

I also chose this one for the season of advent. I think my caption for the picture would be: Tis the season of hopeful expectation and patient waiting.

There are tons of great sky pictures from participants all over the world. Check out the Sky Watch page.

All I Want For Christmas

Are we on time?, originally uploaded by airam94564.

Here's another shot I left out of my Singapore series. Can you guess which destination do I long to go the most?

No Tweaking, honest!

No Tweaking, honest!, originally uploaded by airam94564.

This is the same tree from yesterday's post.

I think I will post random shots for the rest of the year. Series will start next year hopefully. I have plenty of pictures that were left out when I ended some series prematurely in the past.

BTW, congratulations are in order: First to Manny Pacquiao for that win against de la Hoya. Yes, I know I am late, but better late than never you know.

And secondly, to Greg Maddux for his retirement. I am sure he can still go another season, but I respect his decision to retire. Congratulations on a Hall of Fame career.

Oh What A Tree

I was inspired to tweak this photo one night when there was nothing better to do. I liked the result. Most of the photos I post here have very little processing, most are just sharpened a bit, or clarified, or gamma was reduced.

Photo Hunt #18: Breakfast

IMG_0009, originally uploaded by airam94564.

Crab for breakfast? Must be crab season in the bay. This poor crab got caught in our net and he's too small to clear the size requirements we were going to throw him back in the bay. But as you can see a hungry stomach cannot be denied. He snatched the poor crab and ran away. I ran after him, not to retrieve the crab, but to take a photo. Little did I know, this one's a photo hunt entry. Lucky me.

As for me, this is what I want for breakfast (even lunch and dinner), but my husband won't let me.

Happy photo hunting every one. Happy weekend.

Sky Watch #22

skywatch, originally uploaded by airam94564.

Sky Watch is weekly meme that showcases skies, skyscape, clouds and cloudscapes all over the world. Click here to see this week's sky posts from the four corners of the world.

Been doing a little tidying up the pictures folders when I serendipitously bump into this shot. I thought this is the perfect entry for me this week.

I was a tad sad yesterday for reasons I wasn't aware of until hours after posting yesterday's image. Today is my father's death anniversary so I guess feeling melancholic is but normal. However, bloghopping over to Tiff's blog did give me that boost that I get only from a strong caffeinated joe. Imagine my glee to see Tracy elegantly trying to wolf down a pork sandwich the size of a piglet :) Thanks.

Shoes (maryosep)

Shoes (maryosep), originally uploaded by airam94564.

Shoes, which woman doesn't find them attactive. My question is, does your attraction to shoes reach Carrie Bradshaw-esque level? Do you know how many pairs you own? How much wear do you get out of them before you throw them out, or retire them to the back of your shoe cabinet/closet?
