Fourth Ward School--now a community center. It was a school from its construction in 1876 to 1936.
This is my entry for this week's Photo Hunt. This is not my first choice for this week, but I thought I would go with something from the series Virginia City to keep the series moving.
I find old buildings, both preserved and restored, simply beautiful. This one specifically. It must have been a joy to come here to learn. How lucky those many children who learned under this magnificent building. It is an eye catcher without a doubt.
In addition, I find the presence of the bikers adding to the substance and overall beauty of this image. [I initially wanted to post this for SWF].
Amateur photog's online photo cache. All photos are original pics taken by author and her husband. This is not a place to see those awe inspiring Ansel Adams, these are ordinary subjects shot on a whim most of the time.

Photo Hunt #4: Wrinkled
I have a difficult time finding a photo that fits this week's theme. But here's my entry for this week, the old fashioned glove at AT&T Park, the home of the Giants. It is wrinkled. It has wrinkles---that's where it fits the theme :=)
Since the opening of the park on March 31, 2000, fans have been waiting for major leaguers to hit the glove, which has a distance of 518 feet from the home plate to the pocket of the glove. No one has hit a ball that far yet.
Will continue Virginia City series after this post.

Sky Watch #9
Rainclouds hover over the historic town of Virgina City, Nevada.
Virginia City, Nevada is roughly 20 miles from Reno and is one of major tourist destinations in the area receiving about 2+ million visitors yearly.
It was a boomtown during the Comstock Lode silver strike. Now the whole town is like a huge museum. The entire Virginia City was declared a historic landmark in 1961. Stroll and enjoy the well preserved buildings, play slots, peek into the many interesting shops, say a prayer or two at the first Catholic church in Nevada (St. Mary in the Mountains, see the belltower?), eat scone and sip latte at the cafes housed inside beautiful old buildings, sample crazy flavors of salt water taffy. Two things you wont see here: fastfood restaurants and chain stores. Yay!
As a reporter for the Territorial Enterprise newspaper, Samuel Clemens first used his popular pen name: MARK TWAIN. So some say this is the birthplace of Mark Twain.
This will be the first in the series of Virginia City, which I visited during our Memorial Day road trip.

Photo Hunt #3: Colorful
Bangladeshi women in their colorful saris (sarees).
I remember the first time I donned a saree, I put it the wrong way. As you can see the flap should go to the left shoulder. I did not know that.
The woman in the left is my husband's aunt (wife of his mother's youngest brother) and the one on the right is a family friend and has become my friend too, Nisha.

Sky Watch #8
Most of my sky watching activity is done while on a moving vehicle. This is why most of the entries on this photo meme will be coming from this activity.
Here's the big beautiful sky before the downpour. This is the second day of our 3-day road trip along the scenic Highway 395 along the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

Let's Walk Some More
One of my favorite places to walk in the city is by the waterfront. Sure, it does have a lot of tourists and you have to fight for pavement space, but the views are simply spectacular.
Taken while on a moving vehicle.

Photo Hunt #2: Dark
It was dark by the time we entered the Bay Area from Yosemite one day and the sky was beautiful so I could not resist taking a shot.
I know my photo hunt includes clouds again. Well I love clouds, what can I do?

What do you know, it's clouds for my first photo hunt meme. One subject I love, that's why I entered the Sky watch meme, and here it is for my first photo hunt. I can never be tired of clouds and cloudscapes.
